"Cabaret" by Masterson, Kander & Ebb

July 23-Aug.1, 2010

“The scene is a night club in Berlin , as the 1920's are drawing to a close. The Master of Ceremonies welcomes the audience to the show and assures them that, whatever their troubles, they will forget them at the Cabaret. His songs provide wry commentary throughout the show. On the train to Berlin we find Cliff, a young American writer, and Ernst, a German who surprises Cliff by putting his briefcase among Cliff's luggage at the German border. History is in the process of being made. Musical numbers include Willkommen, Cabaret, Don't Tell Mama and Two Ladies. We find Cliff on the train again, now leaving Berlin alone. He writes about Sally and the people of Berlin leading up to the Third Reich. It has been a tumultuous and heartbreaking era.”

St. Louis, Missouri —The NonProphet Theater Company (winner of a 2006 52nd City/ St. Louis Board of Alderman Kick-Ass Award) proudly announces their fourth “legitimate” theater season! The NonProphet Theater Company’s 2010 season runs from May through December 2010, and includes:

Adventurer’s Quest by Richard Lovejoy, May 29-June 6, 2010.
“A 1980’s-style video game come to life! The town of Perilton is invaded by an evil wizard, and only our Hero can save it! Cheer as he fights for the hand of the Mayor’s daughter! Gasp as he infiltrates the bloodthirsty Octopus cult! Watch as he meticulously collects inventory items! Shift uncomfortably in your seats as the narrative gradually implodes! Evoking the Golden Age of computer gaming, Adventurer’s Quest is both a nostalgic treat, and a glimpse into the yawning Void!”

Cabaret by Masterson, Kander & Ebb, July 23-Aug.7, 2010, starring St. Louis’s own “Chanteuse with the Caboose”, Lola Von Ella as Sally Bowles!
“The scene is a night club in Berlin, as the 1920's are drawing to a close. Musical numbers include Wilkommen, Cabaret, Don't Tell Mama and Two Ladies. When we find Cliff on the train again, he is now leaving Berlin alone. He writes about Sally and the people of Berlin leading up to the Third Reich. It has been a tumultuous and heartbreaking era.”

 a feminine ending by Sarah Treem, Oct. 29 – Nov. 7, 2010.
“Amanda, twenty-five, wants to be a great composer. But at the moment, she's living in New York City and writing advertising jingles to pay the rent while her fiancé, Jack, pursues his singing career. So when Amanda's mother, Kim, calls one evening from New Hampshire and asks for her help with something she can't discuss over the phone, Amanda is only too happy to leave New York. Once home, Amanda’s world falls apart with her family and in her frustration, she ends up (gently) hitting the postman, who happens to be her first boyfriend. They spend the night together in an apple orchard, where Amanda tries to tell Billy how her life got sidetracked. It has something to do with being a young woman in a profession that only recognizes famous men. Billy acts like he might have the answer, but doesn't. Neither does Amanda's mother or, for that matter, her father. a feminine ending is a gentle, bittersweet comedy about a girl who knows what she wants but not quite how to get it. Her parents are getting divorced, her fiancée is almost famous, her first love reappears, and there's a lot of noise in her head but none of it is music. Until the end.”

Reckless by Craig Lucas, Dec. 3 – Dec. 12, 2010, starring Michelle Hand as Rachel!
“At home on Christmas Eve, Rachel is informed by her guilty husband that he has hired a hitman to kill her, and she must flee for her life—which she does by scrambling out the kitchen window and into the snowy night. She meets and joins up with Lloyd Bophtelophti, a true "original" who has changed his name to avoid alimony payments and who now lives with a paraplegic named Pootie (who also pretends to be deaf in order to get double disability). Rachel then wins $100,000 on a TV game show and begins a series of picaresque escapades involving numerous psychiatrists and, eventually, an ill-fated reunion with her husband. In the end, Rachel becomes a therapist herself, treating her own child (who fails to recognize her) and is led more and more to ponder whether the modern world might not be a vast conspiracy designed to systematically undermine her own increasingly shaky sanity.”

The performance venue for the Adventurer’s Quest, a feminine ending, and Reckless is the Regional Arts Commission, 6128 Delmar Blvd., St. Louis, Missouri 63112. The performance venue for Cabaret is to be announced.

Performances for Adventurer’s Quest, a feminine ending, and Reckless will be two weekends - Fri, Sat. 8:00 pm & Sun, 5:00 pm. Cabaret will be THREE weekends, but just Fri & Sat nights. Ticket prices for the Adventurer’s Quest, a feminine ending, and Reckless are $15 for general admission, $12 for students and seniors (students must provide school ID).Tickets for Cabaret are $20 for general admission, $15 for students and seniors.
